A Tutorial
The forecast information found on this site can be categorized based
on the spatial scales of interest. The spatial scales involved
include the national, regional, state, and local scales.
- US National Scale:
U.S. is the largest spatial scale used. The temperature and electricity demand
forecast on the national scale for the next 7 days can be found in
the U.S. Forecast page. This page shows
national maps of forecast temperature and electricity demand for each
of the next 7 days.
- Regional Scale:
The next spatial scale below U.S. is the region: the entire country
is divided into to 9 regions. The temperature and electricity demand
forecast for each of the next 7 days over each region can be found
in the Regional Forecast page.
- State Level Scale:
Below the regional scale is the state. The temperature and electricity
demand forecast for each of the next 7 days over each state (except
Alaska and Hawaii) can be found in the
State Forecast page.
- Local Scale:
Below the state is the local scale. Forecast for the service areas of major
power companies for the next 7 days can be found in the
Local Forecast page.
